Student Advisory Committee

Vedant Mohan

Vedant Mohan is currently 14 years-old, and is a freshman at “Williamsville North High school” and a new addition to the “Bridges from Borders Student Advisory Committee.” He won the “silver prize” in the “2021-2022 Youth Achievement Competition” with his team “Voices Heard',” in which they introduced “Food and Cultural Diversity.”

 

Vedant is an active and distinguished music student and sings in a multitude of chorus ensembles, plays the violin, piano, and guitar. He is also a “Black Belt” in “Tae-kwon-do,” and has been training for more than 3 years now. He has also participated in many music festivals such as ECMEA and NYSSMA over the years. He also plays a variety of sports such as soccer, tennis, badminton, basketball, volleyball, swimming, track & field, etc. Vedant currently plays for the “Junior Varsity Volleyball Team” at “Williamsville North High School,” and has participated in many Modified athletics as well. Vedant additionally volunteers in the “Amherst Youth Consortium” and the “Amherst Y.E.S. Program.” He also academically learns Spanish, and as an extra-curricular learns the southern Indian language of Tamil. Vedant is also a boy-scout and has learned many important and useful life-skills along the way to apply into projects such as this.

 

As Vedant progresses through high school, he hopes to continue his goal of spreading the message of “food and cultural diversity.”
